Tobacco quitters honored Feb. 26

LEWISTON — Healthy Androscoggin’s 14th annual Quit & Win Celebration, a quit tobacco incentive recognition event, will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Bates College’s Benjamin Mays Center.

Keynote speaker Sarah Mayberry, from the Breathe Easy Coalition, will be on hand recognizing participants in Healthy Androscoggin’s five-week tobacco cessation program.

Tuesday night’s attendees will receive recognition amidst snacks and refreshments. Attendees present will have the opportunity to win prizes donated by local area businesses and cash.

The tobacco cessation program has reached close to 2,000 Androscoggin County residents over 14 years, supporting their efforts to quit tobacco addiction.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Lewiston Memorial Armory on Feb. 21 were: first, Mickie Farnum, three player table; second, Moe Fournier and Mike Martin; third, Pat Records and Ed Madden; fourth, Vicki Thayer-Adams, three player table; fifth, Val Asselin and Bob Cielinski.

Congratulations go to Don Haley for getting his first 29-point hand. He said, “After over 50 years of trying I finally got one.”

New Gloucester History Barn

NEW GLOUCESTER — The monthly open house for the New Gloucester History Barn will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 2. The History Barn is behind the New Gloucester Town Hall on Route 231.

HEBRON — A benefit supper for Brian Tibbetts will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, March 8, in the Hebron Academy dining room.

Menu will be spaghetti and lasagna dinner. There will be a 50/50 drawing and Chinese auction.
