FARMINGTON — Three chaplaincy volunteer trainees have completed a 100-hour training program to prepare them as lay chaplaincy volunteers. They will visit with Franklin Memorial Hospital patients and their family members to provide spiritual support under the supervision of FMH staff chaplains, Revs. Douglas Dunlap and Timothy Walmer.

Their training program included such topics as confidentiality, ethics, individual and family support, needs of patients with particular diagnoses; end-of-life care, multidisciplinary team functioning, religious traditions, prayer with patients and accessing community religious and spiritual resources.

The graduating trainees include Susan Schell of Chesterville, Roy Scribner of Farmington and Carole Trickett of Farmington. These three join eight other chaplaincy volunteers, community pastors and laypersons, who assist the staff chaplains.
