ANDOVER — A Turner man seriously injured Friday in a snowmobile accident, remained hospitalized Tuesday at Central Maine Medical in Lewiston.
Warden Brock Clukey said Tuesday afternoon that Alex Thibodeau, 46, was riding a Yamaha snowmobile down a trail when the sled hit ice and slid sideways into a tree.
The accident happened shortly before 6 p.m. Friday on a trail near 229 South Arm Road in Andover. He said another snowmobile rider was believed to be riding on the same trail with Thibodeau.
“There was no alcohol or speed involved, just severely icy conditions,” Clukey said.
There was no information on his condition Tuesday night from CMMC.
Andover Rescue and Andover firefighters and Med-Care Ambulance were called to the scene for a carryout. Clukey said he didn’t have any details yet because the incident remains under investigation.
He said Med-Care took Thibodeau, the son of former Rumford Selectman James Thibodeau, to Rumford Hospital, and then to CMMC.
