Sermon guest speaker

PARIS — The First Universalist Church on Pine Street welcomes Silver Moore-Leamon as the guest speaker for Sunday, Feb. 10. The title for the 10 a.m. sermon is “Signals and Shibboleths.”

Music is under the direction of Donna Hurd and Sunday School is under the direction of Renee Wales. Coffee, fellowship and conversation will follow the worship service and all are welcome. Childcare is available. The First Universalist Church is wheelchair accessible.

Adaptive Sports receives grant

NEWRY — Maine Adaptive Sports and Recreation was awarded $500 from the Harvard Pilgrim Foundation’s Community Spirit 9/11 Mini-Grant program.

A Harvard Pilgrim Health Care employee nominated the organization, which provides year-round adaptive recreation programs for adults and children with physical disabilities. The grant will help support the organization’s skiing program.

The Harvard Pilgrim Community Spirit 9/11 Mini-Grant Program was created to honor the men and women lost on Sept. 11, 2001 by giving Harvard Pilgrim employees an annual opportunity to support organizations in their local communities.

Ham supper, dance at Legion

PARIS — A ham supper and dance will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the American Legion Hall, Church Street. Supper is served from 5 to 6 p.m. The cost is $8.

Music will be provided by Jones Dance Band. The cost for the dance is $5.

Breakfast at VFW on Feb. 17

HARRISON — The Ronald St. John VFW Post, on the Waterford Road, will hold its popular breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at the Post on Route 35.

The breakfast features scrambled eggs, French toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, bacon, home fries, fruit cups, sweet breads, orange juice and beverage. Donations accepted.

Country Music Valentines Show

MECHANIC FALLS — The Down East Country Music Association will hold their annual Valentines Show on Sunday, Feb. 17, at the Silver Spur, Route 121. Doors will open at 11 a.m. Show runs from noon to 5 p.m.

Admission for the afternoon is $5 for adults, $6 for nonmembers, $2 for children under 12 years.

Entertainment for the afternoon will be performed by the musicians and performing award winners who are Tennessee-bound in March for national competitions in Pigeon Forge.

There will be food concession, a 50/50 drawing and raffle drawings.
