RANGELEY — On Saturday, Feb. 9, the Rangeley Lakes Region will attempt to beat the Guinness World Records Largest Snowmobile Parade of 820 sleds over a 29-mile course in Roseau, Minn. All proceeds from the fundraising effort will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Northern New England. Ayisha, a 5 year old from Lewiston, will lead the start of the parade.

Snowmobilers are asked to gather in Oquossoc prior to the 1 p.m. start. Advance purchase of the $10 decal to participate or to contribute is available at many area businesses and the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce or may be purchased the day of the event. Out of state registered snowmobiles will be allowed reciprocity the day of the event with the purchase and display of the Rangeley World Record Snowmobile Ride decal.

Official tally of the number of participants will be taken at the start of the parade and further documentation will be provided by a group photo taken from the air. The ride will assemble near Bald Mountain Camps on Mooselookmeguntic Lake for the group photo which will later be available for purchase.

A 30-mile course has been selected that will lead from Oquossoc to Rangeley and return for outdoor music provided by the Tom Ball Band at Oquossoc Marine. Area businesses will offer specials on dining and entertainment.
