New exhibit opening night

RUMFORD — Pennacook Art Center will open a new show at the River Valley Technology Center, 60 Lowell St. A reception will be held in the Tech Center lobby from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, to meet the artists and view the art. There will be a door prize.

The Pennacook Art Center features paintings, drawings and photographs by local art professionals. The exhibit is available for viewing during the Technology Center’s regular office hours.

‘Souper Bowl’ collection, meal

MEXICO — On Sunday, Feb. 3, a collection for the Souper Bowl of Caring will be taken during the 10 a.m. worship service at the Mexico Congregational Church, United Church of Christ (the “Green Church”). The collection will be divided between the GRAMPA food cupboard and the GRAMPS community lunch program.

Following the worship service, the church members will continue the “Souper Bowl” theme by having a fellowship time of sharing a potluck lunch consisting of soups, breads and desserts.

Mexico High Class of 1964

RUMFORD — Mexico High School Class of 1964 will hold their class lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at River Valley Grill. All classmates, spouses and guests are welcomed. Any questions call 364-7329.

Mardi Gras party at Eagles

RUMFORD — The Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1248 Ladies Auxiliary will host a Mardi Gras party and dance from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday, Feb. 8, in the function hall.

Music will be provided by the band Backlash. Bring a mask or buy one at the party. Mardi Gras costumes are optional.

Proceeds will benefit the Rumford Community Home Alzheimer’s unit. The cost is $5 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the club or by calling Kathy at 418-0254.

Rumford Elks fundraiser dinner

RUMFORD — The Rumford Elks will hold a fundraiser lasagna dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8. Proceeds will benefit Maine Children’s Cancer Program.

The cost is $8 per person. Meal will be prepared by Pam (Lavorgna) Poulin. Music by Paul Lowell will take place from 7 to 9 p.m.

Silent auction items will include a night stay at Saddleback Inn in Rangeley; a cord of wood, Carlisle’s Apparel & Footwear $50 gift certificate and more. There will be a 50/50 raffle.

The event is open to the public and will take place at 60 River Road.
