FAIRFIELD — Kennebec Valley Community College is now registering students for a program designed specifically for working professionals that provides the most comprehensive renewable energy training curriculum in Maine.

Registration information for the Renewable Energy Management Advanced Certificate program is available online at kvcc.me.edu/energyservices. Classes will begin in mid-February.

The REM program is designed to be completed in one year and provide industry specific knowledge and skills in the area of managing RE systems and businesses. The structure of this program allows students to focus on any or all of the RE sectors they are interested in pursuing. Successful completion of this program will prepare graduates for applicable national and state testing, endorsements, certifications and licensing.

RE training is available in solar heating, geothermal, biomass solid fuel, solar photovoltaic and small wind technologies.

The REM program is designed for those professionals and/or college graduates who have a strong background in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, architectural and/or engineering and want to get into the business of renewable energy.

KVCC’s diverse RE program offerings provide students an opportunity to explore any or all of the RE disciplines they have an interest in. The learning experience is also enhanced with instruction and hands on training in KVCC’s state-of-the-art Energy Services and Technology Center, which has the most advanced renewable training equipment in the Northeast. With this wide range of technical knowledge and hands on skill, students will be prepared to determine the most cost-effective and environmentally responsible energy systems currently available.
