HARRISON — The 2013 Harrison Youth and Family Ice Fishing Derby is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23 and 24, at the Harrison boat launch and the Town Office.

Harrison Recreation Director Paula Holt announced that derby tickets will go on sale the first week in January. The popular family fishing event is sponsored by the Western Maine Fish & Game Club in partnership with Harrison Recreation and IF&W Hooked on Fishing Not On Drugs.

A 4- by 6-foot ice shack is being raffled. It’s made of insulated aluminum, is shrink-wrapped and sits on skis. It has a trailer hitch and can be towed behind a snowmobile or four-wheeler.

The drawing for the shack will be held at the Town Office open house and awards ceremony at the conclusion of the  fishing derby.

Raffle tickets are $2 each or three for $5 or seven for $10. Holt said the winner may choose the ice shack or $500 in cash. Ticket holders do not have to be present to win.
