LEWISTON — In recognition of the new Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing’s opening, the office of U.S. Sen. Susan Collins presented the Dempsey Center with the flag that was flown over the United States Capitol on Oct. 12, the date the new center opened to the public.
“Since its establishment, the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center has offered expert support and services to individuals and families battling cancer,” said Sen. Collins. “For just as long, the Dempsey Challenge has brought athletes from all over the world, and scores of dedicated volunteers, to Lewiston-Auburn in support of this great cause.
“The strength and determination of Amanda Dempsey, and the energy and commitment of Mary and Patrick inspire us all. The skilled, compassionate professionals at CMMC and the hospitality of the people of Lewiston-Auburn have brought international recognition to both the Center and the Challenge. Together, this great partnership truly provides hope and healing, and I congratulate and thank all for the many outstanding achievements.”
The Dempsey Center is at 29 Lowell St. and provides free support, education and integrative medicine services to anyone impacted by cancer. For more information call 795-8250 or visit www.dempseycenter.org.
