Church cancels Dec. 1 dinner
LIVERMORE FALLS — Eaton Memorial United Methodist Church has canceled its planned roast pork dinner that was scheduled for Dec. 1. Organizers want everyone to support the benefit supper for Donald Simoneau being held the same night. The church will reschedule its supper at a later date.
The benefit spaghetti supper for Donald Simoneau of Fayette will take place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Knights of Colombus Hall, Route 4, Jay.
Children’s day to shop
AVON — The Phillips Community of Christian Women will host the fifth annual Children’s Christmas Shopping Day on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Avon Town Hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Children will be met by Griffin the Clown and guided to the registration table where they will then be assigned a volunteer to help them shop for their families. No item is priced over $1. All presents will be wrapped by the children and volunteers.
Santa Claus and Tabitha the Elf will visit and be available for pictures. Parents and grandparents will be “baby-sat” by Winona Davenport and served coffee, tea and treats with a story/and or a joke or two. For more information call Barb at 684-3394 or Fran at 639-5937.
Free monthly luncheon
FARMINGTON — Old South First Congregational Church will serve its monthly free community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.
The menu consists of glazed ham, potatoes au gratin, green beans and cake.
For delivery in the Farmington area, call the church office during the week at 778-0424 or the church kitchen the morning of the luncheon at 778-4438.
