This is in response to the article “Auburn manager argues for streamlining” (Nov. 21).

Auburn City Manager Clinton Deschene wants to form five new committees? Is there really a need for any more committees in city government? Is there really a need for more City Council meetings?

The article brought to mind a quote from Fred Allen, who once said, “A committee is a group of the unprepared, appointed by the unwilling to do the unnecessary.”

If the new manager is not up to the job of running the city, he should let the public know now.
