FALMOUTH — Taylor Landry had no problem finding the open net, scoring seven goals, as Leavitt/EL floored Falmouth with a 9-1 victory in a girls’ hockey opener Saturday.

Falmouth got on the board first when Martina St. Angelo scored on an unassisted goal. But the Red Hornets answered with two goals in that first period. Landry scored her first of seven goals on a Shelbea Russell assist. Then it was Russell’s turn to score, and she did without any assistance.

Falmouth never see the inside of the Red Hornets’ net again. Leavitt/EL punched in four goals in the second period, with Landry scoring three of the them. Russell added her second goal of the evening, and the Red Hornets led, 6-1.

The Red Hornets received three more goals from Landry in the last period to top off their lead.

Leavitt/EL goalie Tori Sanford made 17 stops in net and the Red Hornets capitalized on two of their four power-play opportunities.
