HARRISON — A fire early Saturday morning destroyed a Cape Monday Road home.

No one was injured.

Initial reports that a person may have been unaccounted for were quickly resolved, Town Manager George “Bud” Finch said.

“That was a bit of initial confusion as the occupant calling 911 was out of the house first and was not sure where one of the three occupants were,” Finch said. “It was quickly cleared up, but not until after the dispatcher had toned us out.”

The Harrison Fire Department was called to 83 Cape Monday Road at 6:45 a.m. The house is owned by Steve and Sherry DeBeradinis. Sherry DeBeradinis and her brother and sister-in-law were in the house at the time, Finch said. All were able to get out safely.

When firefighters arrived, Finch said they found an addition to the cape-style house engulfed in flames that were quickly spreading into the main part of the house on the first and second floors.

Finch said damage to the house was significant. The addition was destroyed and the main house was damaged by fire, smoke and water.

The cause of the fire was being investigated by the state Fire Marshal’s Office.
