Nearly 40 people attended the recent Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine meeting in Waterford, where the focus was cutting hardwood logs for the highest grade. At left, Bob Morin of New England Forest Products of West Paris points out flaws in an oak log. Tom Richards, wearing a hard hat, waits to saw the log according to Morin’s instructions. The event was held at the sawmill of SWOAM chapter President Bill Haynes.
