Annual Salute to Veterans

LEWISTON — The Auburn Exchange Club is presenting the fourth annual Salute to Veterans on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at The Green Ladle, Lewiston High School, 156 East Ave.

Veterans are invited to attend at noon for a luncheon honoring all veterans, both recently returning and otherwise.

Featured speaker will be Major Darryl W. Lyon of Bangor, Commander at 11th Weapons of Mass Destruction (Civil Support Team). Staff from the Lewiston Vet Center will also be on hand to answer questions about veterans services.

Firefighters hosting chili luncheon

AUBURN — Auburn and Lewiston firefighters will serve a Veterans Day chili luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at American Legion Post 153, 71 South Main St. The public is welcome to support veterans.

Legion have Veterans Day meal

AUBURN — American Legion Post 31 will host a special Veterans Day supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the post home, 426 Washington St.

The supper will feature spaghetti and meatballs and is free to all veterans. Cost for guests is $6. For more information, call 783-6992.

Legion Auxiliary hosting dinner

GRAY — The American Legion Auxiliary will pay tribute to all American veterans on Veterans Day. Veterans who served their country during war or peacetime and are located in the Gray-New Gloucester area will be offered a free dinner at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11.

Reservations are necessary. Call Agnes Stansfield at 657-3766 to make a reservation. Only the first 100 to call and reserve a meal will be served. Veterans do not need to be a member of the American Legion to attend.

LHS cadets holding breakfast

LEWISTON — Lewiston High School Army Cadets will honor veterans by providing a free Veterans Breakfast from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at Lewiston High School, 156 East Ave.

Veterans Musical Tribute Nov. 12

LEWISTON — The L & A Veterans Council will again sponsor the Veterans Musical Tribute and the pass in review on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 12, at the Lewiston Armory, 65 Central Ave., starting at 10 a.m.

Admission is free and there is plenty of new parking in front and on Vale Street, plus the regular parking beside the school.

The event typically features more than a dozen honor/color guards who pass in review. Special guests will be veterans from the South Paris Veterans Home. The program usually last about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

All honor/color guard from any organization are welcome to participate; register with Willie Danforth, event chairman.

Veterans Day prayer service Monday

LEWISTON — The ninth annual Veterans Day Community Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at Holy Family Church, 607 Sabattus  St. 

The community-wide service is nondenominational as residents join together and give thanks and remember veterans and those currently serving the country.
