Androscoggin retired educators meeting

LEWISTON — The Androscoggin Retired Educators’ Association will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Green Ladle Restaurant. The menu will be “Chef’s Choice” and the cost is $10.

Julie Shackey will speak on “Everything You Wanted To Know about Home Care and Hospice.”

Members will collect food for a local food pantry in November — either nonperishable foods and/or money.

Seniors to have Thanksgiving dinner

AUBURN — The First Auburn Seniors will meet for a Thanksgiving dinner at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Green Ladle, East Avenue.

Sandy Nesbet will provide the program. There will be 10 pot of gold drawings.

Fifty-seven members attended the Oct. 17 meeting at the Hasty Community Center.

Pot of gold winners were Ann Watson, Ellie Rolerson and Irene Fraser; attendance winners, Shirley Huntley and Mary Tassineri; special drawings, Mary Tassineri, Rita Gagnon and George Herrick.

The next meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 21, at the Hasty Community Center. There will be a cookie raffle.

Goodwill to hold craft fair in Lewiston

LEWISTON — A Goodwill Craft Fair will be held at Goodwill NeuroRehab Services, 618 Main St., from11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8.

There will be handmade items, including wreaths, pillows, baked goods, balsam bags and ornaments and raffles. All proceeds benefit Goodwill Industries of Northern New England

Fill the trailer with food for RCAM

TURNER — A “Fill-the-Trailer” community food drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Murray’s Mega Mart, 454 Auburn Road. The goal is to fill a 24-foot enclosed trailer with nonperishable food and/or donations to benefit RCAM and the 13 area food banks. For more information, call Tim at 225-3000.

Church to hold annual holiday fair

LISBON FALLS — Lisbon Falls United Methodist Church will hold its annual holiday fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at 14 School St.

There will be baked goods, crafts, trash and treasures, nearly new, wreaths and other arrangements, fudge and candy table and theme baskets.

A beef stew luncheon will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., including bread, beverage and dessert. The cost is $6 for adults and $2 for children under 8.

Comedy Fix raises $1,585 for NAMI-Maine

AUBURN — Comedy Fix brought sold-out show to the Auburn Fireside Inn on Oct. 26. The comedy fundraising series raised $1,585 to benefit the Maine chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI-Maine, a grassroots, nonprofit organization, is dedicated to improving the quality of life of everyone affected by mental illness.

“The audiences have been amazing,” said Comedy Fix founder Mark Turcotte. “The comics feed off their energy and it makes for a great show.”

Turcotte, Brett Groh, James Spizuoco, Connor McGrath, Dee Turcotte, Jordan Handren-Seavey, Ian Stuart and Kyron Hobdy provided the laughs for more than 200 in attendance.

Through two sold-out shows, Comedy Fix has raised $2,785 for Maine charities. The first show brought in $1,200 for the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing.

Comedy Fix 3 is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 14, at the Fireside Inn. Turcotte will host comedians Dee Turcotte, Gwen Tuttle, Joe Timmins, Will Green and Paul Hunt. Shows are booked through 2013. More information can be found at www.comedyfixlive.com.
