Snowmobile Club supper Oct. 20
ANDOVER — The Snow Valley Sno Goers Snowmobile Club will hold its Landowner Appreciation and Public Supper on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Andover Congregational Church. The menu will be ham, mashed potatoes, green beans and homemade pies. Cost $8 adults, $4 children and children under 3 are free.
Survey on substance abuse
RUMFORD — The River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition wants to understand youth substance use and needs to hear from the public.
The RVHCC’s Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force is a group of local community members who are interested in preventing youth substance use. RVHCC has created a survey as part of a community assessment process to be used to create a community action plan. The survey will increase understanding of the concerns and community norms around youth drinking and substance use in order to create effective solutions.
River Valley area community members who complete the survey are eligible to win a $100 Amazon gift certificate.

Mahoosuc Land Trust annual meeting
BETHEL — The Mahoosuc Land Trust’s 23rd Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. in the Ordway Living Room at Gould Academy.
Following the business portion of the meeting, Tom Wessels, noted ecologist and author, will be the featured speaker. His presentation will be on “Reading the Forested Landscape,” based on his well-known book, “Reading the Forested Landscape, A Natural History of New England.”
The meeting is open to the public. Memberships and membership renewals are available at the meeting. A $5 donation is requested from those attending who are not Land Trust members.
Sportmans Club supper, meeting
DIXFIELD — The Webb River Sportsmans Club will be having a supper and meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at the club house on the Canton Point Road.
Historical Society meeting Oct. 25
ROXBURY— The Byron Historical Society invites Roxbury and Byron residents to meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Roxbury Town Hall.
Bring original pictures to be scanned and artifacts to be photographed for the preservation of the town history.
Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.
Hope Association dance Oct. 26
RUMFORD — Hope Association will be sponsoring a dance with “Joe The Music Man” DJ from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at 85 Lincoln Ave.
Doors open at 5:30. The dance is open to the public. Donations are welcome. Refreshments will be available.
Rumford School craft fair
RUMFORD — The 19th annual Rumford Elementary School craft fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the school on Lincoln Avenue.
There will be jewelry, knit ware, cloth bags, wooden crafts, jams, jellies, pickles and holiday crafts. Refreshments and lunch will be available at the ABC Cafe.
The school will also have a bake sale table, raffle items and children’s crafts for sale.
Proceeds will benefit the school’s students.
American Legion dinner, comedy
Editor’s note: This event has been canceled RUMFORD — American Legion Post 24 will present a night of dinner, laugh and dance with Dennis Fogg, Jay Grove and Mark and Dee Turcotte on Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Rumford American Legion.
A Mexican dinner will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., comedy from 7 to 9 and dancing from 9 to 11. Tickets are $20 per person. Attendees must be 18 years or older, due to adult content.

Passport Dinner visits Canton, China
WILTON — Wilson Grange Passport Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Wilson Grange, 1338 Main St., across from Shelly’s Hometown Market.
Cost is $12 per person. The Passport Dinner tour continues to Canton, China. Chef Frank has designed a menu that will transport attendees to the ancient city of Canton.
Menu includes Canton lemon chicken with stir fry bok choy with mushrooms and rice, a vegetarian option of mock duck and vegetable lo mein, and almond cookies with ginger ice cream.

Good balance topic for seniors
BETHEL — On Thursday, Nov. 1, To Your Health of Western Mountains Senior College will present a prevention program for seniors, “Good Balance – Staying on Your Feet in Bethel,” from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Congregational Church, Church Street.
