MEXICO — Every Wednesday there is a free lunch served at the Mexico Town Hall. The door opens at 10:30 for those who wish to come, visit and have a hot or cold drink. At 11 snacks are put on the tables and the meal is served at 11:30.

There are often several kinds of bread and occasionally pastries which anyone may take, one item of each per family. Although this is a free lunch, donations are accepted.

The meal is open to any person who wishes to enjoy a hot meal in the company of others. Meals can be delivered to those 60 or above who are housebound due to a handicap or those who have no transportation or have no one to prepare a meal. For further information, contact Judy Kuhn at 364-7242.

PARIS — The Paris Fire Department Auxiliary will hold a public supper at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Paris Fire Department, Western Avenue.

Menu will include casseroles, baked beans, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, salads, rolls and homemade desserts.

First Baptist jumble sale

PARIS — The Fall Jumble Sale of the First Baptist Church of Paris on Paris Hill will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 8 to 11 a.m., with a bag sale to follow.

Available for sale will be furniture, enamelware, antiques, holiday items, books, clothing, bikes, toys and much more. Shoppers may enjoy doughnuts and coffee, and there will also be baked goods for sale.

Field and Farm public supper

SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner will hold a Field and Farm public supper on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 5:30 p.m. An assortment of dishes will be made from wild and domestic game and garden produce.

Finnish, other foods at buffet

WEST PARIS — A public buffet supper featuring Finnish, American and other ethnic foods will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Finnish American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St.

The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children.

Public supper at Masonic Hall

WILTON — There will be a public Masonic supper at the Harland M. Harnden Masonic Hall, 70 Bryant Road, East Wilton, on Saturday, Oct. 20, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., to benefit the building fund.

The menu will be roast pork, mashed potato, gravy, applesauce, squash, rolls, assorted homemade pies and beverages. $8 for adults, $5 for those under 12.

In observance of the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays, this will be the last supper until Jan. 19.

Bluegrass, rock at benefit concert

FARMINGTON — A concert will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at UMF Lincoln Auditorium as a fundraiser for Mission at the Eastward’s South Africa Partnership.

The group, Alter Igor Unplugged, will be playing mostly bluegrass and rock n’ roll. Tickets are $5 students, $10 all others. In addition, there will be a silent auction, raffle and sale of South African goods.

Elks swap meet on Oct. 21

Retired educators meet Oct. 21

All retired public school personnel are invited to attend for a brief business meeting before the noon luncheon. John Kimball will be the speaker. The cost for lunch is $7.

This is the association’s first meeting since June. Bring books in good condition for the book sale fundraiser.

WATERFORD — The Harrison VFW Post, on the Waterford Road, will hold its popular breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at the post on Route 35.

The breakfast features scrambled eggs, French toast, pancakes, biscuits and country gravy, bacon, sausage, home fries, fruit cup, sweet breads, orange juice and beverage. Donations are accepted.

Finnish Society to meet Oct. 21

WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at the Finnish-American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St. A brief business meeting will be followed by a program and coffee social. The library, gift shop and museum will be open.

Monthly bridge at library

WATERFORD — The Waterford Library sponsors an informal bridge group that meets upstairs at the library the fourth Monday of each month. The next meeting is on Oct. 22 at 6:30 p.m. No partner is necessary. Players with a basic knowledge of bridge are welcome. The goal is to have fun and learn from each other.

The group will not meet in December; meetings will resume in January.
