ROXBURY — During a chilly rain Wednesday afternoon, volunteers installed two new signs at the Pine View and Roxbury Village cemeteries.
A third new sign labeled Frye Cemetery that was jointly purchased by Roxbury and Mexico, was installed last week by Mexico workers at the Old Frye Cemetery beside Swift River Road at the Mexico town line, Town Clerk Nina Hodgkins said.
Jean Shaw, a member of the Roxbury Cemetery Committee, said the signs were designed by Matt Pingree, the owner of Creative Signs and Apparel in Mexico.
Each sign bears the year in which the cemetery was established.
Volunteers who donated their time and helped install the posts and signs on Wednesday were Selectman Mike Worthley, Roxbury fire Chief Ray Carver of R & A Tractor Works of Mexico and Vern Porter. They were accompanied by Shaw, Cemetery Committee member Sylvia Touchette and Hodgkins.
