Garden bulb event canceled
PARIS — The McLaughlin Garden bulb event scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13, has been canceled. Due to a family emergency, presenters were not available for the talks and activities.
First U. Church service
PARIS — The First Universalist Church on Pine Street will feature Silver Moore-Leamon at their 10 a.m. service on Oct. 14. The title of Moore-Leamon’s sermon is “Is Sin a Minimum Wage Pursuit?”
Music is under the direction of Donna Hurd and Sunday School is under the direction of Renee Wales. Coffee and fellowship will follow the worship service. All are welcome to attend and childcare is available.
World’s Fair meeting is Oct. 14
WATERFORD — The October meeting for Waterford World’s Fair Association will be held at 2 p.m. at the fairgrounds at 36 Irving Green Road, across from Melby’s Market, on Sunday, Oct. 14. Everyone who is interested in the fair is welcome to attend.

This will also be a work day to put away the picnic tables and all the equipment that needs to be under cover before winter arrives. The work day will start at 10 a.m. and lunch will be provided for the workers.
There are still a few spaces available for winter storage for the summertime toys (boat, camper, bike, etc.) that need to be protected from the Maine weather for the next few months. Red Hat Mommas to meet Oct. 24
BETHEL — The Red Hat Mommas of Western Maine will meet Wednesday, Oct. 24, at CMCC Culinary School in Auburn. Call Isabel by Monday, Oct. 15, regarding food choices and prices. Cars will leave the Dixfield Post Office at 11 a.m.
Twenty-nine members of the group met in September at Sunday River for a Chondola ride followed by lunch at the Black Diamond Restaurant in Bethel. Three birthdays were celebrated.
Spurrs Corner food pantry hours
OTISFIELD — The food pantry at Spurrs Corner Church, Route 121, will be open Tuesday, Oct. 16. The pantry is open the first and third Tuesdays of each month from 10 a.m. to noon. For information call 583-4780 or 627-4329.
Girl Scout info night
BETHEL — Girl Scouts of Maine will host a parent information and registration meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Crescent Park Elementary School.
Girls and adults are invited to attend the meeting to find out about the many different and fun ways today’s girls are participating in Girl Scouting and how the programs and activities inspire them to reach their personal best. Participants will also learn about the flexible options and benefits of becoming a Girl Scout volunteer.

Community suppers resume Oct. 18
WATERFORD — Waterford Community Suppers are about to begin again on the third Thursday of each month through May. The first supper will be on Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Wilkins Community House at 6 p.m.
The Community House is in Waterford Flat on Plummer Hill Road behind the village green next door to the church.
We welcome folks from the community and surrounding towns who would like to share a supper and socialize. Bring a favorite dish to share. Rolls, bread and beverages will be provided. Hosts for this supper will be Joann Fillebrown and Clara Hamlin. For more information, call 583-6677.
