LEWISTON — Antoinette (Charette) Fontaine, 90, of Lewiston, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Marshwood Center.
She was born in Van Buren, Dec. 4, 1921, a daughter of the late John B. and Gertrude (Jacques) Charette. She was a very energetic and active person. She had six children, who are all well educated.
She graduated from Sacred Heart High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing. She was married to Laurier O. Fontaine for 54 years. Over the years, she practiced nursing at St. Mary’s Hospital and enjoyed doing volunteer work for a number of years. Her husband and she did much traveling, spending their winters in Florida. Her hobbies were painting, knitting, sewing, reading and golf.
She is survived by her children, Louise of Florida, Robert and his wife, Jackie, of South Windsor, Conn., Luke and his wife, Nancy, of Newport, Vt., Marie Fontaine of Lewiston, Diane Carpenter and her husband, Dan, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Michael and his wife, Karen, of Chappaqua, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Culina; Antoinette also has seven grandchildren, whom she loved and enjoyed dearly.
She was predeceased by her husband, Laurier; a sister; two brothers; a sister-in-law; and a brother-in-law.
