LEWISTON — Madeleine Landry, 89, of 100 Campus Ave., Lewiston, died at Marshwood on Friday, Sept. 14, following a short illness. Fulfilled by having her family by her side in her last weeks, she died comfortably, at peace, without pain, in her sleep.

She was born in Lewiston, Nov. 22, 1922, the daughter of Albert and Marie Jeanne Moreau. She grew up in Lewiston and attended local schools. She married Roger Landry and together they created a life raising two sons, Ron and Bob. Roger died July 3, 1971. She spent many years working at Bates Mill and then worked as a dietician at Maison Marcotte prior to her retirement. A longtime resident of Maison Marcotte-St. Mary’s residence, she had made many friends. Additionally, she had spent many hours knitting hats for newborn babies in local hospitals, donating tens of thousands.

She leaves behind two sons, Ron Landry and his wife, Patty of Turner, Bob Landry of Lewiston; grandchildren, Shelly and significant other, Belinda of Raymond, Kimberly and husband, David Veilleux, of Turner, Elizabeth Elliot of Bangor and Jennifer Landry; six great-grandchildren, Carter, Chloe and Gavin Veilleux, Cameron Landry, Addison and Mckenzie Elliot, all of which she was extremely proud of with their various talents. She is also survived by four sisters, Rita Timberlake of Lewiston, Jackie Lamontagne of Ohio, Mariette Mercier of Sabattus and Venise Goyette of Plainfield, N.J.

The family would like to thank the staff at Marshwood, specifically Ralph, Marybeth and Jamie, who were amazing. Additionally, the family would like to thank two heroes, Molly and Keena from Androscoggin Hospice.
