Maple Ridge annual meeting
HEBRON — The 2012 annual meeting of the Maple Ridge Cemetery Association of Hebron will be held a 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at 78 Greenwood Mountain Road.

Finnish group meets Sept. 16
WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will hold their regular monthly meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Finnish-American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St.
Following a brief meeting and a coffee social, Jimmy Lowell will present a program on the late Paris gunsmith, Eino Heikkinen.
The library, gift shop and museum will be open. The public is invited.
Country music Sept. 21 at VFW
PARIS — Country music will be performed by Lolalee and the Country Bandits from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at the VFW Hall, Main Street.
The cost is $5 at the door. The lunch counter will be open. 50/50 drawing and raffles.

Retired teachers meet
NORTH WATERFORD — OCEA-R retired teachers will meet Friday, Sept. 21 at Congregational Church, Route 35. Social will be at 10:30 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. business meeting, noon lunch and 12:45 program on “Financial Survival in Difficult Times-Broken Promises.” There will also be a fundraiser, donations and book sale. Library auction, wine tasting
OXFORD — The Waterford Library is inviting residents and visitors to its autumn gala, the big library event and fundraiser of the year, at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6.
A silent auction will be accompanied by a wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres and entertainment by a brass quintet. The event will take place inside the library and outside under a tent.
Offerings for the auction will include a variety of art, antiques, handmade items, homemade pies, services, gift certificates and more. Even the old library catalog will be offered for sale. Black tie is optional, wallets are not.
Anyone with items to donate may contact library board member Nancy Forest at 583-6551. Tickets are $3 per person or $5 for a couple. They are available at the library, at Pie Tree Orchard or from board members Al Struck (583-4417), Corinna Beebe (583-2724) and Nancy Forest (583-6551). Tickets will also be available at the door.
