The Resistance Ministries, a local nonprofit ministry, will hold a special outdoor benefit concert from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, from at Daddy O’s Restaurant on Route 26 in Oxford, just before the Oxford Plains Speedway. The concert is to benefit the family of 15-year-old Cheyenne Rose Pollard who is confined to an electric wheelchair due to an illness called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. The Pollard family, a family of seven, have only one car, which cannot accommodate Cheyenne and her wheelchair. They’ve been trying to save money for a van outfitted with a chair lift that will allow Cheyenne to be able to take part in family trips. Until they are able to purchase such a van the family has decided not to plan any family trips that would mean leaving Cheyenne at home. Included in the concert lineup are The Lisa Gallant Seal Band, Salvation’s House, The Blacksmiths, The Peter Talbot Band, Dream In Purple and The Eyes Of Elisha Band. The concert is free; donations will be accepted. Food and drink will be available along with a special dinner plate meal that will be sold to help raise money for the family. The bands will have merchandise for sale with a portion of sales also going to the family. For more information call 743-6982 or look us up on Facebook under The Cheyenne Pollard Benefit Concert.
