The Merrymeeting Community Band of Topsham, an ensemble of musicians from 12 to almost 80 years old, will perform Thursday, Aug. 2, as part of the Midsummer Lakeside Concert Series at Bates College. The band, under the direction of horn player and musical educator Margery Landis, plays classic show tunes, marches, patriotic music, a little rock ‘n’ roll and contemporary compositions for concert band. The family concerts, all at 6 p.m. in Florence Keigwin Amphitheater by the college’s Lake Andrews, are free. Bring lawn chairs or blankets.
