WELD — Firefighters from three towns responded to a burning truck with ammunition in the back Friday. The truck on Phillips Road, also known as Route 142, ended up being fully engulfed.

No one was injured, Maine State Police Trooper Dane Wing said.

Mark Densmore, 60, of Jay and his son, Jason Densmore, 38, were traveling on the road when Mark Densmore noticed smoke coming from the dashboard of the 2000 Toyota Tundra, Wing said. He pulled the vehicle over and the two got out.

Within seconds the truck was in flames, Wing said.

There was a 5-gallon container of gas in the back of the truck that caught fire, he said. There were also shotgun rounds and a bag of ammunition going off in the back of the pickup.

Firefighters from Carthage, Weld and Phillips responded to put the fire out.
