WAYNE — On Friday, July 20, the Cary Memorial Library will welcome poets Tom Lyford and Douglas “Woody” Woodsum in the first of two summer poetry readings.

Lyford of Dover-Foxcroft is a baby boomer who remembers a world before his family had a television. A retired English teacher, his numerous poetry books include “Pleasant Street,” “Kilroy Was Here” and “Work Aversion Trauma.”

Woodsum is a high-school English teacher who, with his students, has published 10 anthologies of oral history and folklore. In 2010, Moon Pie Press published his book, “The Lawns of Lobstermen.” He lives in Smithfield with his wife, Donna Asmussen, who is an artist.

The 7:30 p.m. event is free. The Cary Memorial Library is at 17 Old Winthrop Road, just off Route 133. For more information, call 685-3612.
