Bernard remembered visiting a cemetery as a boy when he used to go to Tabers. “There is no sign indicating that there is a cemetery there and last I remember the cemetery was in disrepair,” he said. “I don’t remember if there was a veteran there but it would be wise to check.”
Gilliam and members of the Veterans of the Armed Forces found the cemetery and located two veterans. One was James Harlow, who died in the war of 1812.
Even though Harlow was found alone in a wooded cemetery, he was not left alone nor was he forgotten. “The Veterans of the Armed Services located and honored this fallen hero,” said Bernard.
