Clearwater meeting is July 22

INDUSTRY — The Clearwater Lake Improvement Association will hold its annual meeting on Sunday, July 22, at the Industry Town Hall. The meeting will start at noon with a potluck dinner.

Narrow Gauge String Band show

PHILLIPS — There will be a music show of the Narrow Gauge String Band at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at the American Legion Hall. This benefits the American Legion Auxiliary. Refreshments will be served.

Historical Society supper July 18

NEW VINEYARD — The New Vineyard Historical Society will hold its membership supper at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at Smith Hall. Members are to bring a guest. Each member is also asked to bring a salad, casserole, dessert or a meat dish to share. Anyone interested in New Vineyard’s history is welcome.

The “Merry Plinksters,” a ukulele group from Farmington, will entertain the society. The society’s vice president, Elaine Wells, is a member of the group.

Kingfield Festival Days, July 19-22

KINGFIELD — The 2012 Kingfield Festival Days will take place July 19-22. Visit the new website, www.kingfielddays.com, for a full schedule of events.

A teen dance will be held under the tent on Friday night with Dreamin’ Big, a local DJ/karaoke combination. Back by popular demand are the pony rides and kids’ parades on Depot Street, as well as the bounce houses.

New this year is Summit Adventures, with a climbing wall and bungee trampolines that will be a blast for the older kids.

The parade is Saturday at noon with the theme “Music Across Time.”Call for information on how to enter.

An adult dance, with beer and wine tent available, will be held on Saturday night, with Cold Blue Steel Band.

Cycle Challenge is July 22

CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Carrabassett Valley and The Carrabassett Region Chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association have announced the second annual running of the Carrabassett Backcountry Cycle Challenge on Sunday, July 22. The event is the first race in the New England Endurance Series, which also includes the New Hampshire 100 and the Peak 6/12/24 Vermont Race.

The challenge is an endurance race designed to bring together mountain bikers from near and far for fun, adventure and competition. The approximately 60-mile course will wind through the beautiful, unspoiled forests and mountains of Carrabassett Valley and its surrounding communities. The race will offer participants a great mix of mountain biking terrain, consisting of technical single track, double track and dirt roads, with steep climbs and exciting down hills. In addition to the endurance race, the event will offer a timed, shorter option covering approximately 25 miles, and a kids’ race on a kids’ course.

A spaghetti dinner will be served from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at Sugarloaf Outdoor Center. The dinner will be available for racers, friends and family.

Fire Auxiliary bake sale

FAYETTE — The Fayette Fire Auxiliary will hold a bake sale on Saturday July 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Fayette Fire Station, 2475 Main St. There will be pies, breads and other goodies that the ladies are well known for.
