LEWISTON — Betty E. Blair, 78, of Wales, died Friday, June 22, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a very sudden illness.

She was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, Jan. 11, 1934, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Taggart) Blair. She was educated in Canada, attended St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Hamilton, Ontario, and completed her schooling at Columbia University in New York.

Betty was an nurse anesthetist for Griffin Hospital in Derby, Conn., for many years. She enjoyed taking care of those around her, whether it was patients or family. After retiring, she moved to Florida with her brother, Gary and together they owned a 21 acre farm, where they raised cattle and had orange groves.

In her later years, she became blind, but that never slowed her down, she always kept a positive attitude and never complained. She was a very devoted daughter, sister and aunt and will be missed by all the lives she has touched.

She leaves a brother, Hollis Blair and his wife, Louise, of Oakville, Ontario, Canada; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Verna Saucier and Beulah Fournier; and two brothers, Gary and John Blair.
