Strawberry fest at Grange
MINOT — The annual strawberry festival will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at the West Minot Grange 42 at the intersection of Routes 119 and 124.
There will be homemade strawberry pie with homemade ice cream for $4, homemade strawberry shortcake, $4, and strawberry sundaes with homemade ice cream for $4, as well as beverages. For information call Sharon at 966-2332.
Socrates Cafe meeting July 2
WATERFORD — A Socrates Cafe gathering will be held at the Waterford Library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 2.
Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month. The group offers a forum to discuss current topics and ideas in a warm, friendly atmosphere, where divergent views will be welcome.
The topic for the July meeting will be “Washington’s Low Approval Rating: What’s To Be Done?” The moderator will be Joanne Morse.

Bridgton library spaghetti feast
BRIDGTON — The Bridgton Public Library will hold its annual Spaghetti Feast from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Stevens Brook Elementary School.
The menu includes spaghetti with meat and meatless sauce, fresh locally-grown greens, bread, coffee, lemonade, sun tea, ice cream and lots of homemade desserts.
Tickets are available at the door and cost $8 for adults, $4 for children 3 to 10. Children under 3 are free. Highchairs are available.
The supper is held just before the Bridgton Community Band concert and fireworks which are also at the Stevens Brook School.
All proceeds benefit the library programs.
Photography for girls
FRYEBURG — Girls in grades 4-12 are invited to join Girl Scout members and Carol Hanson of Dream It, Create It Studio in Fryeburg to enhance photography knowledge and skills.
The series will cover composition, lighting, landscapes and more. The six-week program will run in July and August. The cost is $48. There is an additional $12 membership fee for non-Girl Scouts. Membership assistance is available for the membership fee.

Waterford Library book sale July 4
WATERFORD — The Waterford Library will hold its annual book sale on Wednesday, July 4, as part of the Waterford Village Independence Day celebration. The sale will be held at the library from 8 a.m. to noon and will include a large selection of hardcover and paperback books as well as a good selection of children’s books.
The library will be open during the hours of the book sale. Hard cover books are a bargain at $2, paperbacks will be available for $1.
Book donations are welcomed prior to the sale and may be left in the library lobby at any time.
The Waterford Library is on Routes 35/37 in Waterford Flat near the old town hall on Keoka Lake.
Girl Scouts nature series
NORWAY — Girl Scouts of Maine will offer a six-week Nature Summer Series for girls in grades 2-4. The free program will run in July and August for girls in grades 2 through 4.
Girls will learn about the water cycle and the precious resource of water, enjoy the “Great Outdoors” through nature hikes, make new friends and have fun.

American Legion yard sale July 7
BUCKFIELD — A yard sale which will consist of perennial plants, food sale, raffles, steamed hot dogs, chili and strawberry shortcake will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at the American Legion Hall on Route 104. This event will benefit Legion Post 58 and Auxiliary.
Casco library book sale
CASCO — The Casco Public Library’s annual summer book sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 8, Tuesday, July 10, and Thursday, July 12, at the library, Route 121, Casco Village.
Prices are from 25 cents and up. A great selection of hardcover and paperback fiction, children’s and teen books, self-help and inspiration titles, do-it-yourself, art and CDs and some nice classics. The book sale room will be open as usual year-round so check back often.
Proceeds from the sale are used to purchase books, movies and music CDs for the collection and to finance the operation of the library and is the major fundraiser to support the budget for the library each year.
Donations of any size for the sale and to help fund the library are welcome throughout the year. For more information call the library at 627-4541. Donations may be dropped off at the library whenever it is open. No old encyclopedias, old computer manuals, condensed books or anything in poor condition.
Rug hooking workshop
CASCO — The Raymond-Casco Historical Society will present a beginner folk art rug hooking workshop with Janet Conner from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, July 15, at the Raymond-Casco Historical Building, Route 302. Deadline for enrollment is July 9.
Genuine hooked rugs use wool fabric strips, not yarn, and are rich with texture and color. Like all old fashioned crafts, rug hooking is low-tech, simple and lots of fun. Every step will be demonstrated.
