AUBURN — Jack V. “Okie” Whinery, 86, of Temple, died Wednesday, June 13, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

He was born Oct. 4, 1925, in Muskogee, Okla., a son of Edward and Nellie (Pace) Whinery. Okie was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II and was a member of the Farmington American Legion Post 28.

On Feb. 26, 1966, he married Ondrea Rackliff in Wilton and they made their home on the Temple Road in Temple for many years. Okie was employed as an interstate truck driver for Bennett Importing, known locally as Farmington and Livermore Shoe, and later at DeCoster Egg Farms. After his retirement from trucking, he enjoyed picking up cars from auctions and other dealers for John Rowe Chevrolet, Hight Chevrolet, and Mike Haggan. He was known for detailing cars.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Ondrea of Temple; daughter, Cynthia Harris and her companion, Michael Lilja and her children, Jacob, Taylor, and Nathan, all of New Sharon; daughter, Pamela Hargreaves and her husband, Harold and their children, Matthew and Nicholas of Farmington; daughter, Shirley Allen and her husband, Robert, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and their daughter, Anna Duarte and her husband, Chad, of

Claremore, Okla.; a brother, Bob Whinery of Scarborough; and his former son-in-law, Jeff Harris of New Sharon.

He was predeceased by a brother, Edgar.
