HARRISON — A pallet of red bricks that were to be inscribed with veterans’ names for a memorial has been stolen, Town Manager George Finch said.
According to a statement from Finch, the bricks were stolen sometime in the last two weeks. They were to become part of the Honor Walk, inscribed with the names of local veterans and placed in the garden flag pole area at the VFW Post 9328 on Route 35 or in the Harrison Village Library Memorial Common.
“It is without a doubt that times have to be tough when someone would stoop so low as to steal the bricks to be used as veteran memorials in the Walk of Honor,” Muffett Crowell, chairman of the Walk of Honor Committee, said in the release.
Anyone with information on the location of the bricks, including returning them anonymously, is asked to call Finch at the Town Office at 583-2241. The town is offering confidentiality in order to resolve the matter.
