AUBURN — Backed by a 2012 grant through the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety, the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department started dispatching deputies to high crash areas to nab speeders in an effort to decrease the number of speed-related accidents.
The speed details will be held day and night, a spokesman for the department said. Drivers may be pulled over by marked and unmarked cruisers. Authorities declined to say when the details would end.
