LISBON — Throughout the halls of Lisbon Community School on March 2, pajama- and costume-clad students, parents, staff and community members celebrated the National Read Across America Program with a Dr. Seuss Birthday Celebration.
Guest readers Kymberlee Piela, Muriel Michaud, Kelly Austin, Sue Ramsay, Angela Shambarger, Jim Millhime, Lisa Caron and Ron Hood provided readings to children and their parents from the most popular collection of Dr. Seuss books.
“Thanks to the combined efforts of our volunteers and the assistance of Carlene Iverson, Ryan Patrie, Audrey Harlow, Katy Dodge, Victoria Worden, Annette Clark, Heidi Coulombe, Jim Damsgaard, LCS custodial and kitchen staff and a number of Interact students and junior volunteers, the evening was a huge success,” said Monica Millhime, Lisbon’s community resource coordinator.
“We anticipated 75 to 100 guests,” said Millhime. “Thanks to the nice weather, folks who are fans of Dr. Seuss and having no other district event, we had a record attendance of 230 people.”
