SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Patricia Ellen (Scribner) Curtis of Harrison, passed away Wednesday, April 25, in Springfield after a four-year battle with breast cancer.

She was born May 24, 1934, in South Paris, the daughter of Guy Bernard Scribner and Addie (Nile) Scribner.

A high school graduate of Gould Academy, she worked various jobs including as a telephone operator at the Bryant Pond Exchange in Maine.

She was united in marriage to Lewis Curtis, whereupon the couple moved to Indianapolis.

There she worked and retired as a billing clerk for McLean’s Trucking Company and became a lifetime member of the Teamsters, Local No. 135. She moved back to Maine in 1998, where she was housekeeper for her brother-in-law, Richard “Dickie” Rose, until she was no longer able.

A member of Grace Fellowship in Oxford, she enjoyed quilting and competing in various fair competitions. She also loved knitting, square dancing and staying in touch with family.

She is survived by five children, Richard Curtis and wife, Mayetta, of Springfield; Jonathan Curtis and wife, Janna of Gaston, Ind., Katrinka (Curtis) French of Memphis, Tenn., Timothy Curtis and wife, Barbara of Indianapolis, and Christopher Curtis and wife, Kara of Avon, Ind.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Harriet Hay of Woolwich and Charlotte and husband, Gerry Brian, of Harrison; two sisters-in-law, Amy Scribner of Oxford and Velma Scribner of Norway; a brother-in-law, Richard Rose; two special nieces, Judy Taylor and Crystal McKay; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by both parents; four sisters, Shirley Thomas, Norma DeBevoise, Montress Wiles and Lois Rose, brothers, Erland Scribner and Kendric Scribner; a daughter, Kendra Curtis; and a son, Alan Curtis.
