BATH, Maine (AP) — The Machinists union says a tentative agreement at Bath Iron Works would give most workers annual pay increases of 2.25 percent to 2.75 percent for the next four years.
Machinists spokesman John Carr on Friday provided highlights of the four-year pact that will be voted on by 3,200 Local S6 members on Sunday, when the current contract expires.
Carr says shipbuilders would get a $3,000 signing bonus and the bulk would see pay increases of 2.25 percent in the first year, 2.5 percent in the second year, and 2.75 percent in each of the final two years.
He says workers’ defined benefit pension plan would be enhanced and there would be immediate vesting for workers participating in an optional 401(k) program. Sunday’s vote will be at the Augusta Civic Center.
