VFW plans dance
 
HARRISON — The Harrison VFW Post, Waterford Road, will hold a dance from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, May 19.  Admission is $10 a person age 21 and over.  The band will be Country Ridge Riders.  Call Ellen at 461-4558 for more information.
 
Indoor yard sale
 
WATERFORD — An indoor yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 19, at Plummer Hill next to the church. There will be something for everyone.
Proceeds go to the improvement fund for the buildings.
 
Sunday breakfast
HARRISON — The Harrison VFW, Waterford Road, will hold a breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 20. It will feature scrambled eggs, French toast, pancakes, biscuits and country gravy, bacon, sausage, home fries, fruit cup, sweet breads, orange juice and beverage.  Donations will be accepted.
 
Buffet supper

WEST PARIS — A public buffet supper, featuring Finnish, American and other ethnic foods, will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Finnish American Heritage Center, 8 Maple St.

The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children. The supper is sponsored by the Finnish-American Heritage Society.

Food pantry open

WEST PARIS — Neighborhood Niche Food Pantry will be open from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19. The pantry, at West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St., is open from 1 to 3 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month and from noon to 2 p.m. the third Saturday of each month, excluding holidays.

West Paris residents are welcome to come one time a month. For more information, contact Pastor Scott Randolph at 376-6854.
 
Heritage program
 
WEST PARIS — The Finnish-American Heritage Society of Maine will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at the Heritage Center, 8 Maple Center.
 
Following a brief meeting and coffee social, Steve Gifford and Jackie Harjula of the Mid-Coast Finnish American Society will present a program on Finlandia Foundation.
 
The library, gift shop and museum will be open. The public is invited.
 
Daughters to meet

STONEHAM — The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865, Hannah F. Richardson Tent 19, met April 25 at the Community Room. Six members and one prospective member were present.

Dept. of Maine President Elsie Bonney was guest for the evening. She presented President Jones with a gift of jewelry.

It was voted not to put out DUV flags for deceased members this year due to lack of funds.

Two bylaw drafts were read to the membership along with a draft of standing rules. Voting on which one to adopt will take place at a later date. Also, voting to raise dues from $18 to $20 will take place at the next meeting.

Members of Tent 19 are invited to attend East Stoneham church at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 20, for their memorial program. Following the service, a service will take place at the grave of Civil War veteran Simeon Grover at Hillside Cemetery.

The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at the Community Room in Stoneham.
