LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will be offering three separate sessions of American Red Cross Lifeguard Training. The first session will start on May 18. Future sessions will begin on June 10 and June 16.

The dates and times for the first session are May 18 and May 25 from 2:30 to 9 p.m., May 19 and 26 from 1 to 8:30 p.m.

The second session times are June 10-12 from 9 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. The third session times are June 16 from 1 to 9:30p.m., June 17 and June 18 from 9 to 6:30 p.m. Only one entire session is needed to receive certification.

This course teaches students the knowledge and skills essential to prevent, and if necessary, respond to aquatic emergencies appropriately. This course includes American Red Cross CPR/AED for professional rescuers and standard first aid.

Participants must be at least 15 years of age and complete a 300-yard swim and timed deep water object removal prerequisite to starting the course. The prerequisite tests will take place on the first day of classes.
