Church Women United meet

PARIS — Church Women United will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 4, at the South Paris Lutheran Church.

The subject of the program will be, “Listen to My Sisters – Sights and Sounds of Harmony.” Refreshments will be served. All are invited.

Texas Hold ’em planned

HARRISON — The Harrison Lions Club will hold a Texas Hold ’em tournament from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at V.F.W. Hall, 176 Waterford Road.

Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. The entry fee is $55. Space is limited to 100 players. Refreshments will be available.

Universalist worship service

PARIS — The May 6 worship service at the First Universalist Church on Pine Street will be led by guest speaker Rev. Richard Trudeau. Music for the 10 a.m. service will be under the direction of Linda Stowell and Sunday School is under the direction of Renee Wales. Coffee and fellowship will follow the service. All are welcome and childcare is available.

DUV installs secretary/treasurer

STONEHAM — Marjorie Nihan was installed as the secretary/treasurer at the April meeting of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Hannah F. Richardson Tent 19. Installing officer was Wanda Ryerson, past president of Tent 19.

Murder mystery dinner

BETHEL — Bethel Community Players will perform “The Butler Did It,” a murder mystery dinner theater play, on May 11 and 12, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Bethel Inn Resort. Brazilian steak night

WEST PARIS — West Paris Baptist Church will hold Brazilian Steak Night at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 11, at the church on 14 Church St.

Experience Brazilian-style marinated meats, a salad bar with unique Brazilian items and two Brazilian desserts. Experience Brazilian culture, food and an inspirational story about what it’s like to live there.

There will be a suggested donation of $5 per person; proceeds benefit the Neighborly Niche Food Pantry of West Paris. Inform organizers of plans to attend by a leaving message on answering machine regarding how many will be coming, 674-3205.
