OXFORD —The National Day of Prayer Task Force in Oxford Hills has organized this year’s observance at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, at the Hosanna Church, 109 Schoolhouse Road.

Several pastors and other spiritual leaders in the community will be leading prayers for specific areas of need. A new addition to this year’s annual observance is a plan for some of the pastors to stay at the church following the formal program to pray for the needs of people who may need a job, wisdom, provision of some kind, or whatever need may be pressing upon them.

This time of prayer for people’s personal and family needs is open to anyone who would like to receive such prayer.

Refreshments, provided by people from the host church, will also be available after the prayer time is over.

In 1952, Congress voted to declare the National Day of Prayer an annual event to be held each Spring. In 1981 the law was modified, specifying that the NDP take place on the first Thursday of each May.
