FARMINGTON — Crews will begin improvements on a nearly 3-mile stretch of Route 156 near the Chesterville town line Thursday, the Maine Department of Transportation announced Tuesday.
The work will stretch 2.7 miles west from the intersection with Route 41.
“Motorists should expect short delays due to one-way traffic through the work area, with flaggers assisting in the movement of traffic flow,” a DOT release stated.
The work includes culvert replacement, underdrain and catch basin installation, ditching, roadway excavation and gravel replacement along with paving and guardrail installation, including curb placement, the release stated.
The $3.6 million contract for the project was awarded to Farrin Bros. & Smith Inc. of Brighton in Somerset County.
