LIVERMORE FALLS — The Livermore Falls Fire Department hosted its annual mutual aid meeting on March 14 to thank all the agencies that the department worked with over the past year.

The department also recognized its Firefighter of the Year and presented service awards, which are given for every 10 years a firefighter serves the LFFD. The LFFD Auxiliary, which consists of family and friends of the firefighters, cooked and served a meal.

The ceremonies were led by Chief Gerard “Gerry” Pineau and Assistant Chief James Butler. After thanking the Auxiliary for the meal, members were given carnations in appreciation of their work.

More than 60 people attended, and all the agencies were recognized and thanked by Pineau. Also attending were Town Manager Kristal Flagg and Selectman Chairman Bill Demaray. Flagg spoke and she and Demaray thanked everyone for being passionate, hardworking people.

Pineau announced Rodney Lake as Firefighter of the Year. He said Lake had been overlooked for many years. He described him as a hard-working firefighter who knows his job and his dedication and knowledge are assets to the team.

Lake thanked everyone and said, “I just try and do a good job.”

Pineau recognized firefighter James Leclerc for his 30 years of service to the department. Leclerc retired in August of 2011. Also recognized were firefighter Corey Clapsaddle for 20 years of service and firefighter Brady Lake for 10 years.
