LEWISTON — The Public Theatre will offer a professional theater training program for young actors July 9 to 27.

The theater is looking for experienced young performers wanting intensive theater training and “raw talents” looking to channel their creativity and imagination.

Taught by theater professionals, with professional standards and insights, the challenging and inspiring program is an alternative to traditional “drama camps.”

The Public Theatre is accepting applications from dedicated students, ages 10 to 16, to participate in the three-week intensive training program, featuring master acting classes, stage combat, movement, voice and speech, singing and text analysis. The program will culminate in a free public performance on July 27.

Aside from improving their basic acting and concentration skills, students will also learn how to work as an ensemble and think on their feet.

Audition applications and details may be obtained by visiting the theater website or emailing. Auditions will be held Saturday, April 7, and, if openings are still available, at a TBA date in May. Applications must be received by Monday, April 2.

The fee for the program is $475. Scholarships are available for a limited number of students with appropriate financial need.
