PARIS — A Norway man who admitted to being the driver in a series of burglaries last year was sentenced to five years in jail with all but one year suspended Tuesday in Oxford County Superior Court.

Christopher Corriveau, 24, of 16 Cottage St., pleaded guilty to 19 counts of burglary, but his sentencing had been continued until Tuesday. About 50 other charges were dropped. After his one-year sentence, Corriveau will spend six years on probation.

He and accomplices, Shawn A. McAuliffe and Anthony Goddard, both 21, broke into more than a dozen camps, homes and businesses in Norway, Otisfield, Waterford, Stoneham, Greenwood and Sweden.

Assistant District Attorney Joseph O’Connor said the men took televisions, household appliances and other items from homes in Oxford County.

The case broke when a detective was driving with a cordless phone handset from a burglarized home. The phone picked up a signal from the base unit and the detective tracked the signal to the home of McAuliffe.

O’Connor said police got a search warrant and found the phone and several other items reported missing from area homes. McAuliffe confessed to the burglary, as did Corriveau and Goddard.

All three men drove around with police to point out the homes they’d burglarized, officials said.

McAuliffe and Goddard were each sentenced to 10 years with all but two years suspended and six months’ probation.
