SKOWHEGAN — A tutor training course will be offered at the Cooperative Extension Office, 7 County Road . Three sessions will prepare participants to tutor adults who have reading and other academic goals: 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 28; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 31; and 10 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 7.

There is a $20 fee for materials, but scholarships are available. Register by calling Dotti on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 778-3460 or email literacyvolunteersfs@gmail.com. Tutors are needed in Somerset County.

The annual Literacy Volunteer Movie Fundraiser is coming up. “My Week with Marilyn,” a biography, follows Marilyn Monroe for a week during the filming of “The Prince and the Showgirl.” The movie will be presented at 1 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at the Narrow Gauge Cinema in Farmington.

The yearly Literacy Volunteers book sale will be held at the Elks Lodge in West Farmington from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 5, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 6. For more information, call the office at 778-3460.
