LEWISTON — Gary D. Blair, 70, of Woods Road, Wales, died Wednesday, March 7, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a long illness, with his family at his side.
He was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, March 31, 1941, a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Taggart) Blair. Gary proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Conflict.
He owned and operated laundromats and a dry cleaning business in Connecticut, for many years. After retiring, he moved to Florida, with his sister, Betty, and they owned a 21 acre farm, which had orange groves and he raised cattle.
Gary was a very hard working man and was a great business man. He was a very simple and nice guy, who just enjoyed life and was always willing to help anyone who needed help.
He is survived by a sister, Betty Blair of Wales; a brother, Hollis Blair and wife, Louise, of Oakville, Ontario, Canada; and many nieces and nephews, who he was very close to.
He was predeceased by a sister, Verna Saucier; a brother, John Blair; and his two dogs, Lucky and Rex.
