LIVERMORE — Lew Lyman has been appointed as cemetery sexton.
Lyman, of Livermore, has served as acting sexton previously, town Administrative Assistant Kurt Schaub said.
The Board of Selectpersons made the appointment Feb. 27.
“The plan was to make a formal appointment once the Cemetery Committee completed its work with the Cemetery Policy, which occurred somewhat late in last year’s burial season,” Schaub said.
Lyman advised him that he was interested in a regular appointment.
The Cemetery Committee agreed Lyman should be appointed, he said.
Lyman is experienced and has served as sexton at cemeteries in Livermore Falls.
“He has a good relationship with the funeral directors,” Schaub said.
There have been no complaints about his work or charges, he said.
This is an independent contractor appointment, given that he does this work for others, he said.
Schaub recommended the appointment to the board, which they approved.
