100 years ago, 1912
 Lewiston High School seniors were victorious in the debate with a team from Wilton Academy Friday evening in Lewiston City Hall. The judges were seated in the audience, no two of them together. Their individual opinions, as to the winners of the contest, were written upon a slip of paper at the end of the speaking, and when compared, all three were in favor of the Lewiston debaters. The subject was, “That a tariff for revenue only would be better for this country than a protective tariff.” The affirmative was handled by the Lewiston boys.

50 years ago, 1962
An unsuspecting Lewiston man found himself before the bench in Lewiston Municipal Court — a victim of mistaken identity. Only one man was in the corridor when an officer asked his name. “Bennett,” came the reply. He was taken before Judge Paul A. Cote who read the charges. “Who? Me?,” the man asked in an astounded voice. “Aren’t you Mr. Binette? And weren’t you arrested for intoxication last night?”
The man’s surprised answer was, “I’m xxx Bennett of the xxx Road and I’ve never been arrested in my life.” He had been in City Hall on other business.

25 years ago, 1987

Members of the YWCA’s Tiny Tot nursery school program are eager for next weekend to arrive when they can go to the Flower and Patio Show at the L-A FEST at Lewiston Armory. At the center of the show will be a gazebo with many spring varieties of flowers and bushes. Visitors will end up walking through a beautiful facsimile of a garden.
