GRAY — An informational meeting for interested Fresh Air Fund host families will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 5, at Fiddlehead Art and Science Center, 25 Shaker Road.

Since 1877, The Fresh Air Fund, a not-for-profit agency, has provided free summer experiences in the country to more than 1.7 million New York City children from disadvantaged communities. Through The Fund’s Friendly Town program, close to 5,000 children visit volunteer host families each summer in rural and suburban communities.

All that is required is a love of children, an open heart and an extra bed for an inner city child. Simple activities like running barefoot through the grass, gazing at stars, hiking and swimming in our many lakes or the ocean are all meaningful experiences for the children.

Experienced host families will be present to help answer questions about the program. Call Marie or Tim at 926-3557 for more information.
